» Meals on Transpacs

Hi y'all- I'm flying JFK-SEA-NRT (and return) next month. Business class over, coach on the way back (gotta love the 25,000 mile one-way upgrades, as I couldn't bring myself to part w/ 50,000!). My question is about the meals, specifically on the SEA<>NRT segments. I'm mostly vegetarian + seafood, so I sometimes feel as though I'm cheating myself by ordering special meals for premium class travel ("here's your fruit plate, sir") and missing out on seafood options. So, if I'm in the back of business on the way over (odd-numbered flight), what would any of you guess my dining options might be on the flight over in J? Or on the way back in Y? Thanks.I just flew SJC-NRT round-trip. I forgot to save the menu for the westbound flig...... - 2008-12-17

» flights from LAX - LAS

I want to know has anyone here flown between LAX and LAS on AA? I noticed they are using a very small aircraft compare to all other airline. How's the safety record of this aircraft? I'll appreciate any other comments. Regards, EmpressEmpress -- I didn't look up the schedules, but if you're saying it's a small jet (not regional jet) I'm assuming it's a Fokker 100? I've been on many of AA's F100's and never had a problem. As for industry wide safety record... I'm not sure. If you're really courious, goto www.ntsb.gov (http://www.ntsb.gov) and do a search by aircraft type.I've flown that route many times. AA uses a Saab 340, a turboprop which holds 34 people. I don't know about the safety record, but this flight is frequently bumpy...... - 2008-12-17

i recently bought a harmony 880 remote which i am currently using to control everything in my living room, including xbmc on the xbox. i'm loving every aspect of it except i have not been able to adjust the timing to make it act as responsive as the original xbox remote. my question goes out to other harmony owners out there: have you guys been able to tweak the timing to make this universal remote feel like the original ?i have the harmony 659, but there is an option under "troubleshoot" in logitech's web configuration interface that will allow you to increase/decrease the delay between commands. i would assume that this option exists for your remote since it is a newer model.to change the timings go into 'devices' on the main menu and c...... - 2008-12-17

I am new to Alaska Airlines and know that they have some partnership with American Airlines. Was wondering if there is anyway to score an upgrade with AA miles or paying at the gate? Thank you.You can't use your AA miles for an upgrade on AS metal, just like I can't use my AS miles for an upgrade on AA. IF (and that's a BIG if), there is upgrade space available when you check in online or at the airport, you may be offered an upgrade for purchase. It's not likely on that route since AS elites get free upgrades. You could check on Coupon Connection and see if there are any AS MVP Gold Upgrade Coupons for trade, they can get you an immediate upgrade if U space is available.Thank you BLI-Flyer, appreciate the tip.AS doesn't fly ORD-JNU an...... - 2008-12-17

Finally managed to get out today and play with my camera, didn't get too far though, just into the park next to my house. The light was low, and effectively gone when I got in the park, and I was going to shoot some of the ducks attacking humans for bread, but they came out too dark and blurry - I did get one that I liked though (not ducks), and I'm not sure why as it's very simple - maybe thats it. » Weak Wrists?

I have noticed after injuring one of my wrist several months ago, that even though I was doing wrist strengthening excercises, when I finally was able to get back on the heavy bag, my wrist would buckle once in a while until my body sort of "remembered" how it was supposed to hold my wrists in alignment when I was hitting hard. My question is, do you have any wrist strengthening drills, lifting routines, etc, that will sure up your wrists while hitting, vs. just strengthening the muscles, or are they the same thing.....My personal view at the moment is that I just have to do heavy bag work to get my wrists used to aligning themselves and that wrist strength itself may possibly be a totally seperate thing. Is it possible ever to do a NW MR to SIN for a reasonable fare without having to do the minimum 6 day stay? Thanks LaneLane412000 ORD-SIN or MDW-SIN is certainly possible and almost reasonable at www.nwaworldvations.com (http://www.nwaworldvacations.com) . Use 1/15-1/19 or 1/22/27. I'm in the process of demonstrating ExtJS to my company. Trying to get them to purchase a license so we can use it for our intranet UI. I have seen websites with photgraphs of basic posture training, but never have I seen how this family of arts moves in a fighting context. Is anybody aware of any videos online or feel comfortable trying to explain such a general topic?the best place to ask that question might be http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Dachengdao from what I've been told, there are not supposed to be any set fighting methods. The practitioner is supposed to learn to react spontaneously through a series of drills. You'll probably get better information from that group thoughNo, but I found this amusing video of what was labelled "Monkey style staff form." » Making money from Photography

Hi, Im new here, just found the site today, So hello im after some advice from those in the business, Ive been an amateur photograper for years and ive just started looking into the possibility of actually making some money from my pictures. A couple of weeks ago discovered some sites that buy and sell photos. Ive signed up with shutterstock and have made about 7 dollers in a week. I have only upload 20 of my pictures.. I was wondering if anybody knew of any more sites like this because at this rate of sales it could make a good second income. the link to my stuff on shutterstock is below if ur interested. » Some St. Petersburg questions

Hello all - I'm arriving in St. Petersburg on May 25 to see a weekend of ballets at the Mariinsky - I'm quite excited and a little bit nervous but I am sure that will go away when I know how to get around and make myself understood at least rudimentarily. I know the Cyrrilic alphabet and very rudimentary Russian - not enough to really speak but I can probably decrypt a sign or a label. A few questions - any advice appreciated: Electricity and plugs - will the adapters I use for France work for Russia as well? Health - How much do I need to worry about the water and giardia? I am bringing medications just in case and will only drink and use bottled water, but do I need to extend this caution to salads and raw vegetables? I'd ...... - 2008-12-17

» a request and a poll

I know I post to them and Iparticipate in them, but could I ask they we please just get rid of all the political threads in here and keep the content Kungfu related. It's getting to political in here. I can get that elsewhere. thankseven though not all the topics are kung fu related, politics doesn't seem to fit here. What will determine if it is political? If it is OT that is the consideration then shouldn't all OT be deleted? Should there be a poll to see if Kung Lek should be deleted? Currently we have OT placed in the threads title. Would a change to Political warn members who may be irritated from viewing such a post? By deleting all OT threads would that result in less viewer ship? Rather than deleting a thread that may le...... - 2008-12-17

Are there any? I don't recall...No lockers per se but there is a store just before security on the right that stores stuff. Thanks P. I assume you mean upstairs security since I can't picture anything right of downstairs at the "RapidAir" security @ T1new...You assume correct. On the top level of security. The travel store.I did the Travel Store storage thing for the first time, at T1. For $4.00 per day, it's great, and they close at 12:30am, which services almost or all flights. In fact, they will stay open for you if you call them telling them that your flight will be late. ^...... - 2008-12-17

» Missing some pages in Genki 1

I bought a copy of Genki 1 in a used book store. The problem is that all of the pages up to chapter 1 have been removed. Can anyone with a copy tell me if I'm missing anything useful? Do we use the Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji sections starting on pg 252 in conjunction with the earlier chapters? Or should I just stick this copy under the table leg and see if I can get a complete copy? ThanksIts just a recap of Japanese Writing Styles (except for KANJI) and a note about the book. If it starts on Page 10 - you simply have missed common phrases in Japanese. Thats it. The Kanji sections in the back of the book, simply go over KANJI learned in the corresponding chapter, as well as presenting more reading/writing practice. Its an exce...... - 2008-12-17

» Video queuing - media switch causes freeze/lockup.

so i've never had a problem with this before... but that being said, i don't know what started it. i may or may not have updated my build before/during/after the first manifestion of the problem - i honestly don't remember. using the remote - i hit "0" a few times to queu up a half dozen media files (videos) from an smb share (linux). hit "title" to pull up the options menu for those selected items - and hit play. well mind you i would hit play on the older skins/builds. new builds w/ project mayhem no longer have the "play" option and just clear/save/repeat settings. so i figure maybe it's automatic now - so i select the first media in the list to play - fast forward to the end and wait for media change --- and it locks up. hit the "next...... - 2008-12-17

» 7/23/05: FCST: WI/MN/IA

Just wanted to start a thread for the upper midwest on Saturday. The latest 12Z NAM paints a pretty good supercell picture across MN/WI. A strong shortwave pushing east, with good moisture pooling at the SFC (and CAPES AOA 4500J/KG), in addition to helicity values in excess of 450 m2/s2 would lead me to believe that there is a supercell, and associated tornado threat across WI/MN -- with any activity that becomes SFC-based. I would really love to chase on SAT, but I think it is a bit too far of a drive... I am also thinking that SUN could have a severe threat closer to home as well.I'd like to see another run or two in the models before hitting the details. That said, both GFS and NAM in pretty good agreement with synoptic features. Bot...... - 2008-12-17

» ATTN: Merry P

I'm curious, are there any grappling tournaments where you start kneeling facing each other, or even from the mount, that allows striking? The thing is, I want to go out and play a little with these guys but I'm more of a get position and beat then a get position and submit guy ... at least at this time. When I play, I've been able to keep from getting submitted (of course not always), break free, and tap the guy to let him know that was a hit and then regain my structure. Or use light knees to show I can be hitting. But without bringing those hits home I can't go on forever and will eventually conk out. Any suggestions?Never seen anything like that. Why not just try MMA?I play with some BJJ guys who train in Manhattan and Queens...... - 2008-12-17

» Any US carrier offer one-way FF awards?

I'm looking for a way to get two one-way awards for travel within the continental US. I am part of AA, UA, US, and DL mileage programs. Do any of these carriers offer one-way awards at less than 20-25K miles? Or two one way tickets for 25K instead of one round-trip? Travel is next July, but why not plan ahead.Northwest used to with the FlyWrites (anyone remember them?), but not any longer. You could try for an open jaw ticket if your itinerary meets the definition of an open jaw. Also depending on your itinerary, stopover rules can be sometimes helpful. I think that AA is the most liberal with regards to stopovers.Continental offers one way upgrades awards for 10,000 domestically.Southwest offers one-way awards - all you do is tear y...... - 2008-12-17

» Windows XP vs Windows Server 2003

Lately I heard from many people that windows server 2003 is better than Windows XP.... 1) It does not slow down. 2) It is more faster. 3) You get more fps if you play in 2003 than in XP. 4) More reliable.i agree. i'm using server 2003 standard edition on my p3 cpu mhz with no problem it runs faster than any other os i installed earlier.Another Server 2003 user in here!!Windows 2003 is a Server Operating System while Windows XP is a Desktop Operating System. Server OS are designed for performance and stability while desktop OS are designed for ease of use, good looks and user friendly features. So comparisons between the two is probably not correct .... nd if speed is all u seek then go for the thinnest Linux Disto and have all u...... - 2008-12-17

I'm looking for a domestic calling card with low rates for the times I am travelling outside my home cellphone coverage area so I can avoid expensive roaming charges. Any suggestions? ------------------ When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. - Leonardo da VinciI use the Sam's Club AT&T Prepaid card (3.47 cents/min). I think each of the wholesale clubs have similar cards. » Best Place To Purchase The Entertainment Book

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what would be the best portal to purchase The Entertainment Book. Which site would yield either the best value in terms of price or which site would offer the best return in terms of miles and or points? I heard that it was currently being offered at $10 off. I went to MyPoints where I remember they offered 200 points for purchasing it but, could not find The Entertainment Book anywhere on their site. The best I have seen so far is http://miles.hotdealz.com/miles175.html 10 bucks plus shipping. KTThat is good price...last year they got down to $5 with free shipping. They typically drop to that price as the year goes on and you have less time to use them.
